Peepshow, 18th December, 2004

Saturday 18th December, 8pm-2am, The Bullingdon, Cowley Road, Oxford £5

Local band showcase

DJ Mag
billed it as the 4th best night in the country last time out, and now with a brand new £15,000 sound system at it's disposal, Peepshow celebrates with a cracker for Christmas. Showcasing some of the finest music currently being made in Oxford, a bumper four live acts perform with the resident DJs and VJs.

Nine piece Captive State fuse hip-hop with just about every musical style, wowing audiences wherever they play and earning them props from Brian Eno. Paddy stumbled across them at the Truck festival, and like Victor Kiam, he liked them so much, he booked them! Listen to clips of three of their tracks by clicking on these links:

Rat Race

Formerly of The animalhouse, Jason King & Hari Teah’s latest project, The Spiralist are a six piece who twist up beautiful cinematic grooves and melodies with cool breaks and quirky vocals. Peepshow is proud to host their live debut.

Compared by BBC Oxford to the Beatles and the Beach Boys, the laid back melodic songs of JBX have already caught the attention of Rob Da Bank (Sunday Best/Radio 1) and Pete Lawrence, who included 'Are You Missing The Sun?' on the Big Chill 2003 compilation cd, iChill.

Only formed in the Summer, Jaberwok have not wasted time and are quickly establishing themselves as a band to watch, blending electronic elements into their retro funky psychedelic workouts.
