PEEPSHOW June 2006

"Peepshow... now firmly established as Oxford's most inventive and eclectic dance club night"
Nightshift

================================

Update, June 2006 - Upcoming gigs, Laroca LP released and reviewed and early festival news

We've been a busy bunch lately. Paddy's finally relocating to London in the next few weeks, and waving goodbye to the end of an era in Oxford with a right proper knees up very soon. You'll all be invited of course, watch this space and we'll let you know the plan once we've decided what to do!

Laroca released their album a month ago and it's been getting some seriously good reviews. Not surprising really, as it's seriously good!

And despite our best efforts to keep things slightly more low key this summer, we've gone and got ourselves gigs at all the best festivals again! It's a hard life sometimes! 8-)

Before then, there's a few gigs to let you know about...

================================

Firstly, tomorrow, Paddy's down in the Brickworks for his fortnightly session of spinning eclectic tunes in Cowley Road's best boozer. It's free and he won't be doing it much longer after moving to London, so catch him whilst you can! From 8.30(ish...)

Big Chill

Then this Sunday, he's back at the Big Chill Bar to spin some lush downtempo grooves to soothe your hungover heads:

Sunday 4th June, 2006 Big Chill Sundae

The Big Chill's mellow all dayer with our Sunday brunch menu, papers, board games and, of course, lots of social wibble. Featuring Sparky, Mondo, El Spiros and Peepshow Paddy and more tbc.

Paddy is on from 12.00-13.55. Entry is free and it runs 12-11.30pm

The following Wednesday, he hotfoots it down the M40 to London again where he heads east to play at the launch of a fantastic looking night alongside Patrick & Eugene, a quality duo from the stable which brought you Groove Armada - more details and a flyer below:

DIALlive, a new monthly night of live music focussing on all things jazzy, funky, and this month quirky, as the eccentric Patrick and Eugene step up to give a unique and special performance. Comprising of Patrick Dawes, percussionist to the stars (Groove Armada / The Herbaliser) and Eugene Bezodis, on jazz sax and vocals, the duo’s debut album "Postcard From Summerisle" is myriad of other worldly exotica and sunshine pop. From the pearly queen knees up of "The Birds And the Bees" to the ska inspired cover of Kylie Minogue’s "Can’t Get You Out Of My Head”, this will be an evening not to be missed, and never forgotten!

Festival news

Shed

Well, summer's pretty much here then, though you wouldn't know it. But that means it's festival season, and we're at it again. We'll send you more information about the festivals in due course, but here's a quick heads-up for where you can catch Peepshow acts in a field near you:

Truck 22nd & 23rd July
Paddy plays in the Lounge, and it's the first outing for the soon to be infamous disco shed, brought to you by Paddy and Aidan Skylarkin...

Big Chill 4th, 5th, 6th August
Laroca play on the Chill stage for the second time, and, well, look out for the shed again, albeit in a unique disguise...

Bloom 12th / 13th August
A new summer festival of cultured electronic beats and bass, technically taking place in Paddy's back garden (long story!) but who cares when it looks this good, with the Bays, Cagedbaby, Hexstatic, and the Nextmen already comfirmed, and yes, Paddy too! 8-)

The Secret Garden 18th, 19th, 20th August
Laroca are playing in Soundsystem guise, and rumour has it there will be a shed there too. What garden is a garden without a shed in it eh?!

Reading 25th, 26th, 27th August
Paddy plays his third year at Reading in the Action Aid Space, it's ace.

ABC Charity Minichill 2nd, 3rd September
Laroca are playing live, and Paddy's organising and performing on the DJ stage, email him at paddy@thepeepshow.co.uk if you want to get involved or find out more information. Gilles Peterson is confirmed which we're well chuffed about! A certain shed might well be in attendance too, albeit unmanned, yikes! Find out more about the work of the ABC Trust at www.abctrust.org.uk.

I think that's it, if we're still alive I reckon we'll try and haul ourselves off to the amazing Bestival but it's more than likely we'll have died from having too much fun by then!

Cheers,

Peepshow x
